What can CatWOW do?
CatWOW does three things. The meow translator turns your cat's meow into a mood and a sentence in your cat's words, and you can answer back in real cat sounds. "Talk to your cat" takes a sentence you say and puts it in cat. The cat trainer chat answers everyday questions in seconds. On top of that come 10 command sounds, 9 curious noises, four situation packs, and videos you can film and share right in the app.
Can an app really translate my cat's meows?
Not literally. The CatWOW translation is a playful AI estimate, not mind reading. Adult cats meow mostly at people, and pitch, length and rhythm change with the situation, which is what the AI listens for. You get a mood, a sentence, what was heard and what helps now. Take it as fun, never as a diagnosis.
How does "talk to your cat" work?
You say a sentence, for example that dinner is ready, and CatWOW turns it into cat sounds that fit the moment and your cat's voice. The sounds are composed from real cat recordings, never from a synthetic cat voice. Many cats answer with a turned ear, a look or a slow blink, some carry on sleeping. Nothing that could scare a cat is ever played.
What happens to the recordings?
For a translation, a short clip goes to our server in Germany and on to OpenAI, which writes the answer. The same happens to the sentence you say for "talk to your cat". CatWOW keeps those clips pseudonymously for 180 days to improve the translator, never under your name. Recording starts only when you start it. The privacy policy spells out every step.

Is CatWOW safe for my cat?
There is no hissing, no growling and no distress call anywhere in the app, and the volume is capped automatically. Hold the phone at arm's length, never at your cat's ears, and keep sessions short. Flat ears, a twitching tail or a cat that leaves the room mean: stop for today. Every cat is different, and some do not react at all.
Which phones does CatWOW work on?
CatWOW runs on iPhone (iOS) and on Android phones. The download is free in the App Store and in Google Play. The translator sends a short clip to our server, so it needs an internet connection. There is no web version. The app speaks 34 languages and follows the language of your phone.
Can I record and share videos?
Yes. CatWOW films your cat's reaction inside the app, so you never have to switch to the camera. One tap sends the clip to friends or to social media, and each clip carries a small CatWOW.app mark. Every translation can also be shared as a card with the sentence your cat got. Nothing is posted without you.
How much does CatWOW cost?
The download is free and starts with a 3-day free trial. After the trial a subscription keeps the translator, the cat trainer and every sound unlocked, and you choose whether you pay weekly, monthly or yearly. You can cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play settings. The trainer comes with a daily allowance of questions and photos, and an optional one-time Trainer Boost lifts that limit for 7 days.
Which languages does CatWOW speak?
CatWOW speaks 34 languages, among them English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic. The app follows the language of your phone, and the meow translator answers in that language. The cat trainer replies in the same language, so you never have to read an answer in English.
Does CatWOW work with every breed?
Yes. You pick from 78 breeds plus domestic cat in the profile, with the coat pattern if you like. Breed, age and size shape the trainer's answers and the pitch of the cat sounds CatWOW plays back, so a kitten does not sound like a Maine Coon. Every cat reacts differently, and the translation stays a playful estimate.
